When Steven and I first started landscape photography, we took a fall waterfall workshop in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina with a wonderful photographer, Dave Allen. On our first foray, the light was not optimal light for waterfalls, and we were somewhat shut out. Fortunately, we persevered over the coming months and spent many weekends returning to the same waterfalls over and over again. This provided us the necessary practice and experience to understand and master getting silky water without overexposing the white. We love shooting waterfalls and have been to many in the Carolinas. Each one has its own personality and can be different every time due to changes in light, seasonal vegetation, and water flow.
